If you’ve finished the work on a key result faster then expected or if you’d like to suspend it for some reason, you can close it before the period is over. Closed KR’s progress will still be counted into the progress of its objective, but it will be less visible in the main view and you won’t be able to update it (unless you reopen it).

  1. Go to the key result’s page.

  2. Click on the three-dots menu on the top right side of the screen and choose “Close”.

  3. Choose the final status. You can choose from 5 statuses available when closing an OKR: Success, Incomplete, Failed, Cancelled, Rescheduled.

  4. Write shortly about the reason for closing the key result, so that others would know why it’s closed.

  5. Grade the KR.

Grading happens on a 0-1 scale, where you assess how well did the work go. Typically it’s 0 for nothing done at all, 0.3- 0.5 for something small achieved, 0.6-0.9 for almost reaching the target value, and 1 for completing the goal. We suggest the grade based on the progress, but as you may have a scale of your own, the value can be changed.

  6. Confirm closing the key result by clicking “Close key result”.
