Labels in OKR for Jira can be used for tagging anything specific for your case and then filtering the main view by it. You can create labels for projects connected to the OKRs, for sprints in which you plan to work on the OKRs, for departments, for products… Possibilities are unlimited and YOU decide how can labels help you in your case.

Adding labels

New labels can be added from a Settings tab.

After you navigate to the “Labels” page, click on the “Add new label“ button. This window will appear:

For each label you create, you can define their name, background color, and text color. After saving the label appears on the labels' list and can be used in any OKR.

You can edit or delete any label you’ve created. After editing, the label will be updated in every place it’s used. After deleting, it will disappear from all OKR to which it was applied.

Using labels

In order to add a label to an objective or a KR, open its page. In the “Info” section, there is a “Label” item. Click on the text next to it.

A list of your labels will appear. You can select multiple labels for each OKR.

After the label is selected it will appear both in the “Info” box and in the OKR Overview in the “Labels” column next to the OKR it was applied to.

You can then use the filter to display only OKRs that have a specific label.
