Copying and rescheduling OKRs

Sometimes copying the OKRs is a better idea than creating new ones from scratch. Especially if you want to just reschedule it to another quarter or create a KR that’s similar to the one you already have.

There are 2 ways of copying your OKRs:

  • from the OKR Overview

  • from each OKR’s detail page

Copying Objectives

After you click on Copy objective, a dialog with the copying process will appear:

Selecting objective

Start with selecting where you want to copy your objective- if you’re not sure where it should be placed in the structure, open the Objective selector and choose the “Remove current objective” option. It will set the objective you’re copying as top-level. You can always change it later.

Selecting period

You can either choose the new period from the list or click on the “Set as parent” button to make sure you’re copying the objective to the same period as the selected parent objective.

History of updates

You can choose if you’d like to copy your history of updates along with the objective. This might be a good option if you’d like to continue working on an objective started in another quarter and you’d like to have all the context at your hand. If you decide that you don’t need the history afterwards, you can always clear it.

Copying contributing items

Along with the history, you can decide if you’d like to copy individual key results and sub-objectives. Their progress history will be copied or not depending on the settings for the objective you’re copying.

After your objective is copied, you will be able to find it inside the chosen period. On the detail page of the copied objective, in the Info section, you will see the link to the objective it was copied from.

Copying key results

Copying key results is very similar to copying the objectives, but simpler. After clicking on the “Copy key result” button, a dialog with the copying process setup will appear:

Selecting the objective

Mind that as this is a key result, you need to select any objective for this KR. We don’t allow having loose key results without an objective. You can choose from any objective on the list.

Selecting period

You can either choose the new period from the list or click on the “Set as parent” button to make sure you’re copying the key result to the same period as the selected objective.

History of updates

You can choose if you’d like to copy your history of updates along with the key result. If you decide that you don’t need the history afterwards, you can always clear it.

After your key result is copied, you will be able to find it inside the chosen period. On the detail page of the copied KR, in the Info section, you will see the link to the KR it was copied from.
